Social Media

See separate information on our Mailing List here.

Background

The Rio Crossing Homeowners Association is made up of a diverse group of people, and getting the word out (on anything!) is a difficult task!  The Board created a Social Media Liaison to take on the task of managing the Association’s social media presence.

The following section lists ways we are actively providing information.  If there’s something you’d like to see that isn’t listed here, please send us a comment.

Web Sites

There are two important web sites to know about:

  • There is a web site at http://RioCrossing.org where most of our official documentation is available. To access some of the information – especially your own account information – you need to register and log in.  But many of the documents are available to any visitor. On this site, maintained by our management company PDS, there are a variety of documents, links, and information items primarily geared toward helping you understand Association governing documents, accessing meeting minutes, and other Association-related business.
  • For owners and other residents (tenants and other non-owner residents) there is a WordPress-based information and blog site at https://www.RioCrossingHOA.com.  There are occasional blog posts and a number of general-use information resources, including a calendar of events.

Mailing Lists

There are two mailing lists, and both of them are very low-volume, and each one has it’s own focus and communication style. We recommend you get on both of them… but at least one, so you can stay in the loop.

The first one is created by association volunteers and sent out using the Mailchimp service. Usually there is a monthly editing sent out at the beginning of the month, with information about Bulk Trash Week, any holiday schedules for trash and recycling pick-up, upcoming board and member meetings, and some general news most subscribers find helpful. Take a look at an archive of recent posts and click the Join Our Mailing List button, or register here.

The second mailing list is maintained by our management company, PDS, and we often refer to this as “The E-Blast List”. If you are registered on the RioCrossing.org web site, you’re on the list! If you’re not on the list, register at the site or contact our community manager for assistance. This mailing is used “as needed”, and generally informs you about upcoming events, or the availability of new association documents on the web site. Official notices of meetings come from this mailing list, though the list powered by Mailchimp generally has the information as well.

Facebook

The community has had a Facebook page for several years, originally created by a local realtor with an interest in our community.  In early 2018, we contacted them and are beginning to actively use the page for posting events and important news.  Over time we hope to develop this page as a resource for owners and residents.

Visit us on Facebook at http://Facebook.com/RioCrossing.

Twitter

There is now an HOA-sponsored Twitter account, typically with important news items and cross-posts from our Mailing List.  Visit @RioCrossingHOA.

Instagram

We’re on the Gram! Not many of our posts have a graphic attached – and Instagram is all about the pictures! Still, there are some items there, and if you’re on Instagram a lot, you should add us.

YouTube

There are a few videos on YouTube, and if the response and access warrants it, we’ll try to add more informative videos on a variety of topics.

Visit our YouTube channel at this short link.

Podcast

There’s an experimental podcast available, hosted on Anchor.fm and available through a variety of podcast services. It’s more informal, usually only 10-15 minutes, and you can play it any time – like while getting your morning coffee or driving to/from work.

Check out the podcast at Anchor.fm, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, or via RSS Feed. (Other less well known feeds are listed on Anchor.fm.)

NextDoor

This community-oriented social media site has a Rio Crossing section, with more than 200 registered users from our community.  Unfortunately, NextDoor does not yet allow HOAs to have their own account for posting events and notices, so the association does not actively post information on this site, but there is an active group of residents sharing information there, so you might want to check it out.

If you would like to register for NextDoor, visit this link.
